Sports Tv rights
Nolot Seminars are delighted and proud to announce the launch of their 10th Annual Sports Law and Taxation Conference.
Chaired by Prof. Ian Blackshaw, this two-day Conference will be an update on and an in depth review of the subject, including the EU
Competition Law aspects and Tendering Procedures, and Broadcast
Sponsorship and Rights of First Refusal to Commercial Air Time
surrounding the Broadcasts of Sports Events.
Uniquely, the
Conference will also deal with the tax side and, in particular, on how
to structure sports broadcasting deals and contracts, from a tax
efficiency point of view, in order to mitigate the substantial tax that
would otherwise be payable on the mega sums involved in the sale of
these rights, which have been well described as ‘the oxygen of sport'!
The
Conference will also cover the sports bodies' and rights' holders' side
of the subject, as well as that of the broadcasters themselves. In
particular, we will deal with the FIFA/UEFA 'Crown Jewels of Sport'
cases, and critically analyse the outcomes of them so far, and also,
based on the application of general principles, endeavour to predict the
results of the pending appeals.
In the context of the Olympics
in London in 2012, this is a very timely and must-attend Conference for
Sports Lawyers, Administrators, Broadcasting Executives, Media Advisers
and Marketers, Tax Advisers and all others involved - in any way - in
the commercialisation, legal protection and tax sheltering of Sports
Broadcasting Rights in Europe.
